Mistake: Racket elbow angle was severely collapsed at 33.1 degrees during contact, well below the ideal range of 120-165 degrees for a net shot.
Fix: Reach forward with an extended arm to contact the shuttle high and close to the net tape.
Why it matters: Hitting with a tightly bent elbow forces contact too close to the body and lower to the floor, giving the opponent time to attack the net.
Drills
- Shadow lunges to the net focusing on reaching forward with an extended arm before plant
- Hand-fed net tumble drills taking the shuttle at tape height with a loose, extended arm
